Terms

What we provide, and what we do not promise

Deliberately short and readable. If a term here would surprise you, that is a problem with the term rather than with you for not reading it.

Notice

Draft — pending legal review

This is an accurate plain-language statement of how the product is intended to work. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, is not the final agreement, and will be replaced with a reviewed version before the app launches or any payment is taken.

01 · What ProfileUp is

What ProfileUp is

  • A platform that assesses your development across five dimensions, helps you choose a direction, builds a plan, gives you daily work, has that work reviewed by a person, and records the result as evidence.
  • It is a development platform, not an education provider. It does not award degrees, and its certificates record reviewed work rather than accredited qualifications.
  • Career Reality pages are written and reviewed for accuracy but describe general conditions in a field. They are information, not a guarantee about any particular job.

02 · What we do not promise

What we do not promise

  • We do not promise a job, an admission, a salary, or a specific score. Anyone who does is not being straight with you.
  • We do not promise that a direction we rank highly will suit you. The ranking is based on how you answered, and you should read the reality of a direction before committing to it.
  • Pay ranges shown on career pages are indicative and market-specific. They change, and they are not an offer.
  • A mentor's rating is a professional judgement about a specific piece of work. It is not an assessment of your potential.

03 · Your account

Your account

  • One account per person. Your sign-in code is yours — do not share it.
  • Everything you submit must be your own work. Submitting someone else's work for review corrupts your own profile, which is the main reason not to do it.
  • If you are under 18, a parent or guardian consents to the account.
  • You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend one for submitting plagiarised work, abusing a mentor, or attempting to manipulate scoring.

04 · Your work and your profile

Your work and your profile

  • The work you submit stays yours. You keep the copyright in it.
  • You grant us permission to store it, show it to the mentor reviewing it, and include it in your portfolio.
  • We may use anonymised, aggregated patterns to improve the product — for example, that a particular practice task rarely improves anyone's score. Never your identifiable work, and never your reflections.
  • Your portfolio is private until you choose to share it. A share link can be revoked.

05 · Mentors

Mentors

  • Mentors are verified before they review anything, and rated by the students they work with.
  • A mentor gives you a professional opinion. Acting on it is your decision, and outcomes are not guaranteed.
  • Counselling conversations are confidential, with the single exception of a genuine safeguarding concern — and in that case we tell you we are acting.
  • Consistently poor feedback removes a mentor from the review queue.

06 · Payment

Payment

  • The assessment, your starting profile, the Career Explorer and every career page are free.
  • Paid plans cover mentor review capacity, coaching sessions and the full journey content. Prices are shown before you pay.
  • The fifteen-minute mentor introduction is free and needs no account.
  • Refund terms will be published alongside pricing before we take any payment.

07 · Changes and endings

Changes and endings

  • We will tell you about a material change to these terms rather than quietly updating the page.
  • You can stop using ProfileUp whenever you like, and export your profile and portfolio on the way out.
  • If we discontinue a part of the product, we will give notice and a way to take your data with you.
